Bokhtar district

Bokhtar district administrative district in the Khatlon region of Tajikistan.

It was formed January 7, 1944 as the October district in the Kurgan-Tube of the Tajik SSR. January 6, 1965 was renamed the Communist area. In the early 1990s. Decision of the Supreme Soviet of the Tajik SSR was renamed in Bokhtar district in memory of the historical region of Bactria.

The regional center - the settlement of urban type Ismail Samani (former village Bokhtar), located 15 km south of the city of Kurgan-Tube.

Geography

Bokhtar district located in the valley of the Vakhsh River. It has borders with Dzhamievskim area, in the east - and Sarbandskim Vakhsh district, on the west - Khuroson district of Khatlon region.
