Rasht district

Rasht district district of Republican Subordination in Tajikistan.

The regional center - the city of Garm, located on the right bank of the river Surhob between the ridges and Karategin Peter I, 185 km east of Dushanbe. Known in the Middle Ages as one of the settlements on the Silk Road, the capital of the historic area Karategin in the Pamir-Alai.

History

It was formed March 10, 1931 as the Garm region. On October 27, 1939 to August 24, 1955 the territory of the region was part of the Garm region. Resolution of the National Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan № 190 dated April 28, 2001 in Rasht district was renamed in memory of the historic area of Rasht.

In 2010, there were clashes Rasht district of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan with detachments of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan.

The territory of Rasht is 5346.9 km ². The population is approximately 103 057 people. The population is engaged mainly in agriculture, animal husbandry, cultivation of potatoes and gardening.

The territory of the Garm village is 112 hectares, is home to 1103 families, totaling 6997 people. The district consists of 14 councils, two of them - Garm and Navabad - settlement and other rural councils. At this time in this area there is 27 schools, 41 secondary and 37 primary schools with a total of 19 200 students in the school.

Prior to joining the Soviet government in this valley was not medical institution, the first medical institution was created for the Red Army in 1925 and only since 1931 has been created for the hospital population. The distance from the Rasht district to the center of the Tajik capital Dushanbe is 180 km.

Nature and Natural Resources
